You do not need a perfect explanation of your feelings to begin. A first conversation is a place to ask questions and find a fit.
Arrive as you are
Some people come with a clear concern; others only know that something feels difficult. Either is a valid starting point. You can describe what has been happening in your own words, share what you hope might change, and say what you are unsure about.
Ask about the process
A first meeting can include questions about your goals, the therapist’s approach, confidentiality, session length, and what happens next. You can ask how the work is structured and whether another type of support might be more appropriate. You do not have to agree to a path before you understand it.
Give yourself room afterward
After the conversation, notice whether you felt heard and whether you understand the next step. A good fit matters. Beyond Therapies offers a free 15 minute telephone consultation to help you learn about its approaches before booking further support.
